2009 Ox Year

Your sign is Rooster. 2009.

The Ox (not your dog) is your best friend. In fact, if you have not yet become amorously entangled with one of these steadying creatures, you have been missing the last train to paradise. Oxen tone Roosters down. Their sedate influence chops the Rooster velocity in half and allows for introspection and self-realization. As you Roosters normally do not fancy soulful thought and are just about never after anything more profound than a new outfit, a showplace house or a gourmet meal, the presence of the Ox this year helps add depth to your excessively materialistic ruminations.

This year you may find out that there is more to life than stuff. Love is in the air and in this relationship you are the “lovee” i.e., the other person is desperately fond of you. Because you are so certain of this unconditional affection, you tend to imagine that you can get away with all manner of capriciousness (affairs, flirting, weekends off etc). Be more gentle. The lover in question is beginning to learn to set limits and you may lose him or her to someone far sweeter and more attentive. You would do well to order up some gorgeous flowers and tickets to a tropical island paradise for two or your lovER may get itchy feet. Money will be plentiful. But stop buying things anyway. Hold off on all major purchases – not because it’s wasteful – but because nobody really needs to own three BMWs.

Your business life has been quite uncertain over the past few months. You still had plenty to do and your ideas for projects were all sound, but nothing seemed to actually pan out. Now, as you enter the Ox year, you will notice a more favorable outcome to whatever you undertake. These positive results evolve quite naturally and will use a great deal less of your brain power and not tax your nervous system so acutely. One thing you should keep in mind this year is not to make hasty decisions without first seeking sage advice. Older people will guide you wisely. They not only have more experience; but they are not as single-minded as you about following through come what may. Your tendency to barrel on ahead with a fixed notion without looking left, right or maybe can be your undoing. Soft pedal it. Say less. Be more circumspect. Deign ask for counsel and then heed said counsel. Don't blink. Do what is suggested and you will succeed. Proceed with what your gut tells you and you may be tossing in one of the clunkier monkey wrenches you have so far chucked into the works.

Ox years are beneficial for Roosters in more ways than one. Your health will remain steady in this year. With the exception of a cold or the recurrence of chronic allergies, you should sail right through unscathed. Money is for saving.
Finally, you can forget about the inheritance you expected might drop into your lap this year. Neither your wealthy Aunt Matilda or old Uncle Louie has any intention of dying quite yet. There will be a crucial phase of family illness. But don't get your hopes up. When least you expect things to turn around, Uncle Louie and Aunt Martha will be scampering off together on a cruise around the Mediterranean.
