25th Aug 2007

Interesting today and yesterday,

Yesterday, after a morning swim, I meet up with the ex-colleagues at ICA for lunch. By chances met Jack (Sparrow) and Darren, they look great. Then follow up with Terrance and the other guys. JJ still there, and Xiang Ming still there (his last day then) and so are Terrance and Patrick. Things have come to a standstill since the CIRIS project and everything have since returned to normal at ICA (at least for the ICA staffs, haha). Oh I also happened to meet Perm (pronounced "Pray-m"), the cool suave security officer; btw she is female.

After that I head straight for SIM to catch up on my studies. Saw a female with stunning outfit. She wore a white cap, a short canvas skirt, white sport shoes, and a high collar white polo-T with green stripes. Then after a quick glimpse, up in my mind, I draw up an illustration. I replaced her short jeans with normal jeans. Suddenly she doesnt look that "stunning" to me anymore. Then I continue further to replace the person in that outfit to a male. And she now look like a freak to me. Funny way our brain works, haha (I must have been too deep into neural network research =P)

The ironic and the climax for today is that I saw exactly the same illustration I came up myself yesterday. There is this man, white the SAME high collar white polo-T with green strips, a spiar of blue jeans, and a pair of white sport shoes (without the white cap though). I leaked a laughter and wonder why men perceive clothings as such great importance when in fact, they are more clown than anything else...

Anyway, I figured something yesterday, in this world (at least in this society) you can misplace anything, except one, and that is trust. Once misplaced, the recovery is tough and expensive...

3rd Aug 2007

Last day...

2nd Aug 2007

After so long, not that long, (ok its been long), CIRIS is finally on track. Things are calm and everything seems to be in control. All looking good and are working fine... except the LONG processing time...

Its time to do a little check and report on the stuff learnt overall...

I see how a HUGE (island wide) project is being implemented and rolled out (executed). Other than intensive testing and patching, for a period, the developers (NEC, SCS and NCS) are on standby around the clock and have shifted to the client site for full-force FAQ sessions. Problems and issues are logged into cases, and each case are documented as a physical file and the files are then data entry into the soft copies.

The users coping (or struggling) with the problems and new features are relieved with the development team there to "absorb" their anger and complaints... LOL.

I also happened to learn that the Apache POI is used to develop MS Office Apps, and the software is written by some third party developer. The servers are also set up in a cluster format (was told that there are 8 of them) and the lagginess of the servers are caused by the intercommunication of the servers, other then the Client/Server replies and responses... And the servers seggregation allows the problem to be identified easier.

01 Aug 2007

Wednesday, a new day for me of a new month. There are many things I picked up today, mostly philosophy of life and ways of doing things.

Such as,

"Your confidence and doubt about somebody is closely related to your own confidence and doubt of yourself"

How trueful, cos most of the time, we gauge others by our own benchmark.

"God give you Talent, be Humble"
"Man give you Fame, be Grateful"
"You give you Conceit, be Careful"

These are meaningful and can serve me in the long run. I like them. KISS.

Some happening today that bugs me a little... Xuan Ming is indeed something wrong. In fact very wrong. He knows who is Jimmy, so during lunch time, it happens that Jimmy crosses our path while we waited for Terrance. I throw him a quick question, "Is that Jimmy?" He simply smiles and said "I not too sure..." The expected direct answer should be "Yes" or "I dont know"...

Terrance is also kinda funny today, somehow, he feels that I am isolating him. He asked me to order him his drink from a particular stall, while I intend to get his drink from the Ginger Tea india stall that I patronised. I am cool with it.

It seems that there are something going on behind my back that it is beginning to bug me. I hate backstabbers. Good thing that on the 31th July 2007, I witness a call to Terrance directed at me (my guess here is negative stuffs abt me since Terrance said he cannot reveal the name of caller to me). Whatever it is, I am going to root it all out.

Help me with my "showdown" Mum... I suppose Popularity does breeds Jealousy...
